Alp and i are back in delhi after a serious case of the runs... not the kind you would expect but rather, we suddenly felt the urge to move on from the mountains. we went rather far into the chamba valley, stopping for a few days in the beautiful mountain-rimmed town of bharmour, before deciding to embark on our 23-hour return trip to delhi. the chamba valley was certainly the least touristed place we visited in himachal pradesh but sadly, it did not yield what we were hoping. we were laughed at when we inquired about renting a motorcycle or an abode, so we just had to enjoy the scenery. our plans have changed once again and we are awaiting alp's cousin esin's arrival in delhi, whereupon we will decide our mode of transportation (no more buses) and direction of travel. in the meantime however, we will probably go to benares and "enjoy the ganga," maybe even dip in the holy waters themselves. today though, we are enjoying the lightning speed internet, planning on cooking to our hearts' delight in our wonderful ben's kitchen, and drinking beer in the afternoon. in other words~ we will simulate the american experience. tallyho! by the way!!!!! alp is sporting a mustache now! he looks really cute and i am proud to have such an authentically indian lover!
ingie
yes friends, it is wonderful to eat to your heart's content in restaurants and dhaba's yet there is really no food like home food. we have really enjoyed the himalaya's and as we bid our goodbye also said see ya later. now i am exited to see esin and get motorized. we will head down south and see where that takes us. adios

Gin Rummy
Each person is dealt 7 cards
the remaining cards go in a pile face down betweeen the two players. the point game is to be rid of all the cards in your hand. to do this you must group cards (face up infront of you)in the following ways:
any suit, any number three or four of a kind (not 2 of a kind)
or like a flush (same suit), starting at Ace and ending with K (you cannot do AKQ) eg: 456, or J,10,9
To play, the person to the left of the dealer, first, draws a card from the face down pile. Then deliberates whether or not they want the card, and then must discard any of their cards, card face up, in a horizontal line from the initial draw pile.
The next player does the same, except now, as there are card(s) in a face up linear fashion, the players may choose from the face up cards as well. eg: a line of face up cards 5 8 J 2 10 3, and you want the J, you must pick up all the cards on top of the J as well as the Jack itself.
you cannot draw from both piles, only one each turn.
the player, when there are cards laid out, like three of a kinds etc. may also lay cards down to "join up" to the cards on their opponents side. for instance, the opponent has three K's and I have one, I lay it down BEFORE i discard, on my side. this adds to my pot, not to my opponents.
so winning, is when you have no cards in your hand, but you must lay down cards and then discard on your last turn. you cannot just discard the only card you are holding and win. (sorry alp, no cheating)
Points may be added up, each card worth its face value, Aces as 11 or 1, and royal cards as 10.
the usual game is played to 350 or 500 ( about 4 or 5 games).
So the way to get the most points id by hording the Aces, royal face cards and higher numbers, or triplets and four of a kiinds.
i hope i explained this well enough, i love this game and think its a great travel game, as you only need one deck (no jokers)
lemme know how it works, and i am glad excrements do not come in wild colours!
